Pursuing a Career in Pain Management Pharmacy

There are multiple pathways to pursuing a career in pain management. During this podcast, listeners will hear from pharmacists who participate in pain management in different settings and will learn of their different career paths and practice models.

SPEAKERS

Molly HowardDr. Molly Howard received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Durham VA Medical Center and a PGY-2 in Ambulatory Care with the University of North Carolina Medical Center. Dr. Howard practices as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in primary care within the VA’s VISN 7 Clinical Resource Hub.

Nicholas CoxDr. Nicholas Cox is an Assistant Professor (Clinical) at the University of Utah and an ambulatory care pharmacist at University of Utah Health. He completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and a PGY2 Ambulatory Care residency, both at the University of Utah. As a pharmacist at a primary care clinic, he works with patients and providers daily to help manage chronic pain. His research includes investigating pharmacist engagement in chronic pain in the primary care setting.

Kashelle LockmanKashelle Lockman, PharmD, MA, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, a 2019 Cambia Health Foundation Sojourns Scholar, and a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Palliative Care at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is the co-director of the University of Iowa Certificate in Palliative Care and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy Teaching and Learning Curriculum for residents and fellows.

Kendall WickKendall Wick is a rising P3 student at Wingate University School of Pharmacy. Currently she is a summer intern with ASHP! Kendall is very active in her school and community, leading clubs, volunteering, and spending weekends working in the pharmacy. She is fortunate to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina where she spends time hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and rock climbing. Kendall loves learning and appreciates the opportunity to host this Hot Topic podcast on Pain Management Pharmacy.
