This episode provides an overview of treatment options for acute pain in patients taking buprenorphine and how pharmacists can provide optimal care for patients.

Dr. Tanya Uritsky is the opioid stewardship coordinator at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is Co-Chair of the Penn Medicine Opioid Task Force, Past-Chair of the Society of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacists (SPPCP) Opioid Stewardship Taskforce, and is President-Elect of SPPCP. She was awarded Palliative Care Practitioner of the Year by PainWeek in 2015 and the 2020 Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists Joe E. Smith Award for excellence.
Dr. Vinh Dao (Vinny) is a graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. He provides clinical services in the areas of pain management, opioid stewardship, and headache disorder as a pharmacist practitioner within the Comprehensive Pain Center of the Minneapolis VA Healthcare System. He also serves as Residency Program Director of a PGY2 Pain Management and Palliative Care Pharmacy Residency Program and guest lectures for the University of Maryland-Eastern Shores.
Dr. Melissa Nguyen obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2019. Dr. Nguyen completed a PGY1 pharmacy resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and a PGY2 in Pain Management and Palliative Care at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She currently practices as an inpatient/outpatient pain clinical pharmacy specialist at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System.
