Navigating Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation Changes

In this episode, subject matter experts in health system organizations discuss the impact and changes in their organizations, due to accreditation updates in the specialty pharmacy space. This podcast is presented by members of the Accreditation and Compliance Section Advisory Group of the Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners.

SPEAKERS

Alicia VerretAlicia Verret, PharmD, CSP is the manager for Specialty Pharmacy at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. Alicia oversees the operations of the Specialty Pharmacy including clinical and non-clinical staff and operations. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University and is currently pursuing her Master of Health Administration degree at Louisiana State University- Shreveport. She is a certified specialty pharmacist and is a member of the ASHP Section Advisory Group on Accreditation and Compliance.

Jed JohnsonJed Johnson, PharmD, CSP is a clinical pharmacist for Quality, Compliance and Performance Improvement at Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy in Nashville, Tennessee. His work focuses on pharmacovigilance, including drug safety monitoring and ensuring compliance with REMS programs.

Jessica StewartJessica Stewart, PharmD, CSP is the West Virginia University Health System Specialty Pharmacy operations manager. She oversees the day-to-day operation of pharmacy proper from inventory management and fulfillment to the shipment and delivery of specialty medications. Jessica oversees the pharmacy technician-in-training program and is responsible for compliance with pharmacy state and nonresident licensure. Jessica has been involved in several accreditation reviews focusing on Specialty Pharmacy and Home Infusion Services.

Jacqualine IgweJacqualine Igwe, PharmD, BCPS is the medication safety, quality and accreditation coordinator at Baptist Health South Florida. She leads and supports safety and accreditation needs concerning the specialty pharmacy and other outpatient and ambulatory services such as retail pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, refill management program and ambulatory settings. She is the chair of the Quality Management Committee and actively participates in multiple safety committees. She works as part of a team to ensure compliance in the respective departments.

Carey JonesCarey Jones, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP practices with Mayo Clinic Specialty Pharmacy, serving as the clinical resource for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Prior to joining Mayo Clinic in 2019, she worked as a clinical pharmacy specialist within the Digestive Health Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics focusing on IBD in conjunction with the UIHC Specialty Pharmacy. She has a passion for improving patient access to specialty medications and helping patients achieve better health outcomes.

Jerry St. JamesJerry St. James, PharmD, MBA graduated from the University of Michigan Pharmacy School in 2020 and completed a combined postgraduate year 1 and 2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at the University of Kentucky. He is currently a pharmacy manager with the University of Utah Specialty Pharmacy and responsible for managing the Specialty Pharmacy call center as well as managing clinical and quality initiatives.
