Preparing students for introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPEs) can be difficult with only didactic classroom learning. An interactive skills fair can help bridge the gap between the classroom and practice, setting a foundation for successful IPPEs. In today’s episode of Educator Essentials, we’re speaking with Dr. Jacqueline Wasynczuk about how her institution helped revamp and improve IPPE-readiness for their students, and the impact of the program on both students and preceptors.

Dr. Jacqueline Wasynczuk is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice within the Jefferson College of Pharmacy. She also practices as a Drug Information Specialist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she precepts IPPE and APPE student pharmacists. Dr. Wasynczuk received her Doctor of Pharmacy at Butler University and has completed post-graduate training as a Regulatory Pharmaceutical Fellow in partnership with Purdue University, Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC, and the US Food and Drug Administration.
Georgia (Gina) Galanou Luchen serves as the Director of Member Relations at ASHP, serving as staff liaison to the Section of Pharmacy Educators and Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads the development and implementation of programs and resources related to pharmacy learners, schools and colleges of pharmacy, and pharmacy educators. She also leads initiatives related to community pharmacy practitioners and their impact throughout the care continuum. Dr. Luchen is a graduate of ASHP's Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management in Bethesda, MD. She received her Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Studies and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Community-Based Residency at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in conjunction with Balls Food Stores in Olathe, KS.
