This podcast will discuss strategies for reducing implicit bias and increasing cultural alignment throughout the recruitment and selection processes for incoming residents. Dr. Todd A. Walroth will share some successful recruitment elements for improving inclusion, in advance of his upcoming session during the ASHP National Pharmacy Preceptors Conference.

Todd Walroth, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, FCCM is the Pharmacy Manager for Clinical Services at Eskenazi Health, and also serves as an adjunct faculty for Purdue and Butler Universities. His professional leadership includes serving as a surveyor for ASHP residencies, serving on the Specialty Council for Critical Care Pharmacy with the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, and chairing the Smart Pump Safety Workgroup with the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety. He is certified Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt.
Kerri Degenkolb, PharmD, BCPS is the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Hepatitis C management at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, IN. A graduate of Ohio Norther University, Dr. Degenkolb completed her post-graduate training at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She enjoys resident development, employing different methods to further residency training, and helped to establish a statewide precepting workshop for residents in Indiana.
Gina Luchen, PharmD serves as the ASHP director of Member Relations for the Sections of Pharmacy Educators and Community Pharmacy Practitioners. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads initiatives that influence practice and education across the care continuum. Dr. Luchen completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas, a postgraduate year 1 Community-Based Residency with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Balls Food Stores, and the Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management at ASHP.
