IPPE learners present unique challenges in designing and implementing experiences that allow them to explore health-systems practice, while growing towards independent practice. This podcast explores implementation of a layered learning system that involved pharmacy residents and third-year student pharmacists learning from one another and advancing practice.

Jessica Efta, PharmD, BCPS practices as an internal medicine clinical pharmacist at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. She earned her PharmD from Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Henry Ford Health. She coordinates the P3 IPPE experience for her practice site and additionally serves as a preceptor for P4 APPE students and pharmacy residents.
Nisha Patel, PharmD, BCPS is an Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacist and Team Leader. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Midwestern University Chicago and completed a PGY1 residency at Henry Ford Hospital. She has 9 years of experience precepting students and residents on rotation and projects.
Gina Luchen, PharmD serves as the ASHP director of Member Relations for the Sections of Pharmacy Educators and Community Pharmacy Practitioners. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads initiatives that influence practice and education across the care continuum. Dr. Luchen completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas, a postgraduate year 1 Community-Based Residency with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Balls Food Stores, and the Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management at ASHP.
