Climbing the Leadership Ladder, from Practice to Academia, and Beyond

The aim of this podcast is to share the experiences and insights of two pharmacists who have climbed the leadership ladder in both practice and academia during their careers. Listeners will gain perspective on ways they can elevate their career and educational journey and expand their interprofessional network, as well as they will receive valuable insights from respected leaders in the pharmacy profession. 

SPEAKERS

Marie ChisholmMarie Chisholm-Burns, PharmD, PhD, MPH, MBA, FASHP, FCCP, FAST is Executive Vice President and Provost of Oregon Health & Science University and an endowed professor in the OHSU School of Medicine. She oversees OHSU’s schools/colleges, education mission, Area Health Education Centers and rural health programs, student services, international affairs, education improvement and innovation, interprofessional education and simulation, and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. She has served in numerous academic and pharmacy leadership positions. She has been a solid-organ transplant pharmacist for decades.

Neil MacKinnonNeil MacKinnon, BSc, MSc, PhD, FCSHP, FNAP is Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. In that capacity, he serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the university, overseeing its ten colleges and schools, as well as diversity and inclusion, enrollment and student affairs, faculty affairs, institutional effectiveness and planning, instruction and innovation, the registrar’s office, and the research enterprise. He also serves on the board of AU Health.

Gina LuchenGina Luchen, PharmD serves as the ASHP director of Member Relations for the Sections of Pharmacy Educators and Community Pharmacy Practitioners. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads initiatives that influence practice and education across the care continuum. Dr. Luchen completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas, a postgraduate year 1 Community-Based Residency with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Balls Food Stores, and the Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management at ASHP.
