This podcast will explore how corporate/centralized pharmacy resources organize themselves within their health systems to support hospital pharmacy departments. Three leaders from different sized hospital systems will discuss the topics of pharmacy goals, accountability, and outcomes and how all are impacted by the organizational structure. Speakers will highlight successes and drawbacks with their organizational structure.
SPEAKERS
Samuel V. Calabrese is the Executive Chief Pharmacy Officer at the Cleveland Clinic Health System, Cleveland, Ohio. The Enterprise encompasses a 3,000 bed health‐system with over 1,700 FTEs in 19 hospitals and clinics in Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Canada, England and Abu Dhabi. Sam is faculty with ASHP’s Pharmacy Leadership Academy and with ASHP’s Australia leadership boot camp. He is the immediate past chair of ASHP’s Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL).
Dr. Lacknauth currently acts as the Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at Broward Health responsible for the strategic direction, financial and clinical outcomes, marketing and program refinement with oversight and integration of 5 acute care hospitals and 10 ambulatory clinics. Dr. Lacknauth has received two master degrees in addition to his Doctorate in Pharmacy. Dr. Lacknauth experiences include acute care, home infusion, ambulatory care, accountable care modeling, 340B, retail and specialty pharmacy.
As the Chief Officer, Ancillary Services, Dr. Bohenek oversees and is responsible for all operations for Pharmacy and Lab within Bon Secours Mercy Health. Prior to joining Mercy Health in 2002, Dr. Bohenek held several positions at the University of Chicago Hospitals as the Chief Pharmacy Officer for the University of Cincinnati Hospital.

Brian Latham serves as the Executive Director of Pharmacy for Bon Secours Mercy Health. In this role he assists 17 hospitals and their pharmacy leaders with pharmacy strategies surrounding clinical practice, pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, technology, and supply chain/financial savings. Brian obtained his PharmD degree from Ohio Northern University and his MBA from Louisiana State University. This past year he has chaired the ASHP Section Advisory group on Business Development and System Integration.
