Pharmacist prescribing continues to be a key area for advocacy, especially with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This podcast episode highlights a rural health system’s model to empower pharmacist prescribing of COVID-19 oral antiviral medications and addresses challenges in providing optimal patient care in the small and rural hospital setting.

Todd Lemke, PharmD, has held many roles over the years at CentraCare and currently is the Director of Pharmacy, Regional Hospitals, MTM and Anticoagulation overseeing two critical access hospitals, a MTM program serving 20 clinics and an anticoagulation service caring for 3000 patients. During COVID-19 he has worked with an interdisciplinary team to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations, monoclonal antibodies, and antiviral medications to the people of central Minnesota.
Rena Sackett, PharmD, BCPS, serves as director, Member Relations at ASHP and is the liaison for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners. She previously completed ASHP’s Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy in Loma Linda, CA.
