This podcast will provide information on continuous professional development (CPD) and its importance to practitioners. The podcast will also provide perspectives from pharmacy leaders on the value and importance of ASHP’s Fellows (FASHP) and how achievement is recognition of longitudinal commitment to practice advancement. Additionally, the podcast will explain how utilization of the FASHP guidelines for application can serve as a road map for CPD.

SPEAKERS
Michael Peters is the Pharmacy Business Manager at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed a PharmD at Purdue University College of Pharmacy, an MBA at the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business and Economics, and a combined PGY-1/PGY-2 HSPAL residency at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee. His career interests include pharmacy leadership and development, pharmacy business management, and medication access programs.
Nathan Hanson is the Division Director of Pharmacy Operations for the HealthTrust Purchasing Group. In this role, Nathan serves the HCA MidAmerica Division, which encompasses 11 hospitals located in Kansas, Missouri and Louisiana. His primary responsibility in this role is to support the Directors of Pharmacy in the areas of controlled substance management, sterile compounding, Joint Commission readiness, pharmacy distribution, and leadership development. Nathan is actively involved with the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers, the Kansas Council of Health System Pharmacy Public Affairs Committee, the Missouri Society of Health System Pharmacists Public Policy Committee, and the Missouri Hospital Association, and he serves on the Missouri Board of Pharmacy Hospital Advisory Committee. He enjoys data analysis, performance improvement, and any activity where rules and data intersect with people and processes. He is passionate about serving leaders so that they can reach their full potential. Nathan holds a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Drake University, and a Master’s degree in pharmacy administration from the University of Kansas. He completed his Health System Pharmacy Administration PGY1/PGY2 residency at The University of Kansas Health System and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Amber J. Lucas, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP is the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Obstetrics / Neonatal Specialist at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Dr. Lucas previously served on the ASHP Board of Directors as Chair of the ASHP House of Delegates. She has published and presented on a broad variety of clinical and leadership topics, including preceptor and professional development, clinical leadership, the U.S. pharmacy practice model, professional policy and advocacy, and obstetric and neonatal medication use and safety.
