May 2024
It’s hard to believe that the Section of Pharmacy Educators (SPE) 2023-2024 year, and my term as Chair of the SPE, is wrapping up. It has truly been an honor to serve all of you and represent our section this year.
We have an outstanding community of pharmacy educators who are focused, goal-oriented, and get things accomplished. SPE continues to produce excellent educational programming and resources such as podcasts, webinars, roundtables, and so much more, covering hot topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), diversity, and well-being, as well as interprofessional healthcare teams, faculty development, precepting, and mentorship.
Thank you to the SPE Section Advisory Group (SAG) members and leadership for the time and effort each of you dedicated to producing the deliverables.
- SAG on Collaboration between Health Systems and Academia - Chair Carrie Sincak and Vice Chair Ifeanyi Egbunike-Chukwuma
- SAG on Development of the Educational Workforce - Chair Kate Cozart and Vice Chair Lindsey Childs-Kean
- SAG on Post-Graduate Education and Learning Experiences – Chair Gabriella Douglass and Vice Chair Christopher Schriever
- SAG on Student Education and Learning Experiences- Chair Kelly Bach and Vice Chair Claire Latiolais
I appreciate the support each member of the SPE Executive Committee has provided this year, for the productive discussions, and for your dedication to our section and ASHP. Chair-Elect Jennifer Arnoldi, Immediate Past Chair Jim Trovato, Directors-at-Large Tim Brown and Kevin Chamberlin and Director-at-Large-Elect Dale English, along with ASHP Staff Erika Thomas and Board Liaison Vickie Powell. All of you are the best and wonderful to work with!
We have exciting plans in the pipeline for a follow-up to the Crystal Ball project. What is the prediction for future education and workforce trends and are we prepared? There are many factors to consider. More to come on this topic.
The ASHP Pharmacy Futures 2024 meeting will take place in Portland, Oregon, June 8-12, 2024. During this meeting, the SPE Executive Committee will have strategic planning discussions and I will be serving as the SPE delegate during the House of Delegates meeting. If you have ideas for our section or have comments on policy recommendations relevant to our Section, please send them to me. Your input in our section is valuable.
Thank you for an incredible year! See you in Portland!
Best Regards,
Cher Enderby, PharmD, EMBA, BCPS, BCNSP, FFSHP, FASHP
