July 2024
Hello, New Practitioners!
As the year comes to an end, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to each of you for all your efforts and share how proud I am to be a part of the New Practitioners Forum. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to meet many of you and get the chance to work alongside you. Within each advisory group, you have all made a tremendous impact on the Forum to advance our influence and provide resources to peers within the profession and other colleagues in healthcare. I’m appreciative of all your hard work throughout the year and amazed by the output of our efforts.
I wanted to highlight some of the work and share the newly available resources here:
- Podcasts:
- Educational Content:
- Leveraging ChatGPT for your Job Search and Hiring Processes (ashp.org)
- Clinical Pearls shared via social media – 13 high-impact posts throughout the year!
- Non-Traditional Pharmacist Roles Social Media Series & Networking Event
- Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI) Pearls
- Toolkits & Resources:
- Social Networking:
- Midyear Clinical Meeting Networking Event & Spring Virtual Scavenger Hunt
- Residency Preparation Roundtable Series to engage & help students better navigate residency applications and feel prepared for training
- Staying Involved in Pharmacy with Clinical Leadership Collab
I know how much effort went into the development of these resources, programs, and events, so thank you again for making all of this happen! These offerings will be invaluable to incoming new practitioners navigating their way from students to pharmacists and us seasoned practitioners as well!
I wanted to thank each of the NPF Executive Committee members, Alfred, Kay, Chelsea, Joe, and Doug, along with our Section of Clinical Specialists & Scientists Liaison, Gillian Leung, and our stellar ASHP Director, Karly Low! It really does take a village to make a difference, and I’ve been so fortunate to work with an incredible team and all of you during my final year with the Forum.
In June, we traveled to Portland, Oregon for the first-ever ASHP Pharmacy Futures Meeting, where we were able to reflect on the year, catch up with old friends, and determine our upcoming goals for the New Practitioners Forum. Again, none of this would be possible without your efforts, so I thank you on behalf of our entire Executive Committee for your engagement and dedication to make NPF the home for new practitioners in pharmacy. We also managed to squeeze in some karaoke, so NPF will be on the hunt for any New Practitioners with stage presence for our next conference! š
As we wrap up the year, we also celebrate the new grads of 2024 and welcome the incoming group of newly minted pharmacists joining the New Practitioners Forum! It is a major accomplishment to earn your PharmD degree and dedicate your lives to improving the health and well-being of those around you. As you navigate your career, please feel free to utilize resources and opportunities provided within ASHP and the New Practitioners Forum, highlighted on our NPF Resource Page. You can find more information on social media at @ASHP_NPF on X/Twitter.
It has been the highlight of my early career to serve as Chair of the NPF Executive Committee, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of New Practitioners. You are the future of pharmacy, and you are making a difference every day. Thank you for being a part of this community, and for making it better with your enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication. I can’t wait to see where you all take the Forum next and I’m here rooting you on with every step!
I hope you have a wonderful Summer and look forward to our paths crossing again soon!
Best,
Justin Moore, PharmD, MS, BCPS, BCIDP
