While strong clinical acumen is an important competency for pharmacy managers, there are many other critical skills pharmacists must possess to be effective managers and leaders. Managers must understand how to build and leverage key relationships within the organization, build effective teams within their departments, lead and develop staff members, establish and implement new programs and services, track performance, and develop strategic plans for their departments. The Pharmacy Leadership Academy® (PLA) is a tuition-based online integrated program taught by a stellar faculty. Supported in part by an educational grant from Apexus, all seven courses in the PLA include challenging readings and activities that can be used to affect change in the participant's organization. Graduates are eligible to use the designation of Diplomate, Pharmacy Leadership Academy (DPLA).
