The Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners’ Section Advisory Group on Medication Safety has identified that health-systems attempting to justify dedicated medication safety resources lack guidance on how best to approach this type of request. This includes organizations justifying their first dedicated Medication Safety Officer FTE or organizations looking to expand the number of dedicated medication safety FTEs. These positions are instrumental in helping an organization prevent medication errors and eliminate preventable patient harm that results from risk within medication use processes.
