Paul W. Bush, Pharm.D., MBA, BCPS, FASHP
Vice President, Global Resource Development and Consulting
Paul Bush is ASHP's Vice President for Global Resource Development and Consulting. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ASHP's mission to create products and services, including accreditation, educational offerings, and consultation, that further practice advancement around the world. Paul's more than 40 years of accomplished hospital and health-system pharmacy leadership make him an ideal partner in strategic planning and setting and achieving short and long-term practice advancement goals.
Prior to his current role, Paul held the positions of Chief Pharmacy Officer for Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, Director of Pharmacy Services for Medical University of South Carolina, St. John Hospital and Medical Center and Detroit Osteopathic Hospital and was Corporate Director for Clinical Pharmacy Services for Horizon Health System. Dr. Bush has served on the faculty of several schools of pharmacy, and has been deeply involved in ASHP at the state and national levels for most of his professional life.
David J. Warner, Pharm.D.
Senior Director, Consulting and Practice Development
David J. Warner is Senior Director, Consulting and Practice Development in ASHP's Office of Practice Advancement. In this role, David leads ASHP's domestic and international consulting programs, working with pharmacy residency programs and pharmacy services around the world to prepare for accreditation, assess pharmacy operations and clinical services, illustrate opportunities for advancement, or customize a consultation to meet a pharmacy department's or organization's specific need. David's experience in clinical services, practice model evaluation, education, residency training programs, and hospital pharmacy management, and his collaborative and results-oriented style help him work with programs to create a consultation that meets each client's individual needs.
Prior to his current role, David was Director, International Residency Program Development in the Accreditation Services Office at ASHP. For more than 30 years, David has been a clinician, an administrator, an educator and a leader in his roles at ASHP, Duke University Hospital, and University Hospital at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Mary-Haston Vest, PharmD, MS, BCPS
Director, Pharmacy Accreditation and Quality
Mary-Haston Vest joined ASHP in 2024. Previously, she was a System Director of Pharmacy with University of North Carolina (UNC) Health, and an Associate Professor of Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her areas of expertise include justifying and building analytics programs; data driven strategic planning; pharmacy education and associated partnerships; and demonstrating pharmacy services’ value through quality measurement and research. She also has experience with medication-use strategy development, including management of high-cost drugs and gene therapy, system P&T structure, formulary management, sourcing and contracting, and shortages management. She has implemented services that have been recognized with two ASHP Best Practices Awards.
Mary-Haston is a Past Chair of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists Health System Practice Academy, and Past Chair of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) Advisory Group on Value, Quality and Compliance. She also served on the ASHP SPPL Educational Steering Committee, Commission on Credentialing, Commission on Affiliate Relations, and Pharmacy Accountability Measure Work Group.
She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 and PGY2 residency program in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at UNC Medical Center and M.S. from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She has a Graduate Certificate in Health Economics and Outcomes Research from the University of Washington.
Douglas J. Scheckelhoff, MS, R.PH., FASHP
Senior Vice President, Practice Advancement
Doug Scheckelhoff is ASHP's Senior Vice President of Practice Advancement. He provides leadership and coordination of ASHP initiatives addressing critical practice issues. Doug oversees the Centers on Pharmacy Practice Advancement, Medication Safety and Quality, Practice Development and Pharmacy Accreditation. He also coordinates ASHP international programs, services, and consulting.
Prior to coming to ASHP, Doug was Director of Pharmacy at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC and held leadership positions in academic teaching hospitals for 17 years. He is a frequent speaker and leading voice on medication safety, practice advancement, and best practices.
