This podcast provides an engaging interview with three pharmacy leaders who have had successful careers and contributed significantly to health system professional associations. Janet Mighty, Dawn Moore, and Christy Norman will share their insights on their professional journeys as pharmacists, association leaders, and African-American women.

SPEAKERS

Janet MightyJanet L. Mighty, BS, MBA, is Director of the Investigational Drug Service at The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) located in Baltimore Maryland. At JHH she oversees comprehensive pharmacy services that support clinical research. Janet received her pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore. Currently, she is member of the ASHP Foundation Board of Directors. She completed service as a member of the ASHP Board of Directors in 2011 and has served as President of the Maryland Society of Health-System Pharmacists

Dawn MooreDawn Moore serves as vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Community Health Network.  She is responsible for the strategic direction and overall practice of the pharmacy enterprise, leading with a passion for driving quality and safety in patient care and value added services. Prior, Moore served in the same role at Indiana University Health for six of the twelve years employed.  Moore also served as assistant director of pharmacy at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for six years.

She is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she received her doctorate of pharmacy degree, and the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, where she completed a Pharmacy Administration Residency and master’s degree program.

Moore is president-elect of the Indiana Pharmacists Association, member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and serves on the boards of the Indiana Coalition for Patient Safety and Martin Center Sickle Cell Initiative.

Christy NormanChristy Norman, PharmD, MS, BCPS, currently serves as the Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Emory Healthcare. Christy is also the current President-Elect of the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists. As a member of ASHP, she serves as Vice-Chair on the Section of Pharmacy Practices Managers SAG for Multi-Hospital Pharmacy Practice and is a member of the Pharmacy Executive Leadership Alliance.

David ChenDavid Chen is the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Assistant Vice President for Pharmacy Leadership and Planning. ASHP represents more than 58,000 members include pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. His role with ASHP includes coordinating efforts of ASHP members in advocacy, education on pharmacy leadership, continuity of care, manager development, reimbursement rules & regulations, specialty pharmacy, and multi-hospital health systems. His responsibilities include staff liaison to ASHP’s Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners, Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders, and Pharmacy Executive Leadership Alliance. He has been with ASHP starting September 2004, and previously served the role as Director of Pharmacy at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland including the Kessler/Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital. Prior experience includes Director of Pharmacy roles in Texas and Florida, regional leadership positions with Owen Healthcare (now part of Cardinal Health), and central operations supervisor for the University of Maryland Medical Center Pharmacy. Mr. Chen earned his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy degree from the University Of Maryland School Of Pharmacy and his MBA from the Loyola University of Maryland.
