Incorporating Resident Wellbeing Into Your Residency Program

The draft revision of the ASHP Accreditation Standard for Postgraduate Residency Programs was released for comment on 12/9/2021. One notable addition to the harmonized draft standards is the focus on resident wellbeing. This podcast is intended to highlight how some programs have worked to incorporate residency wellbeing into their program structure and how that could positively impact residency training.

SPEAKERS

Mandy BrownMandy Brown, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, DPLA is the systemwide residency program director and a practicing critical care pharmacist at UCSF Medical Center. After earning her PharmD from Touro University, she completed a PGY1 Pharmacy residency at UCSF Medical Center, and a PGY2 Critical Care residency at the University of Colorado Hospital. Dr. Brown also serves as an adjunct assistant professor at UCSF School of Pharmacy, and is a diplomate of the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy.

Olivia CollinsOlivia Collins graduated pharmacy school from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN in 2021. She is currently a PGY1 pharmacy resident at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE and will be staying on to complete her PGY2 in emergency medicine. Her interests within emergency medicine include toxicology, emergency preparedness, and stroke. Outside of pharmacy, Olivia likes to run, read, and participate in aerial silks.

Sydney HarrisonSydney Harrison received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi where she continued on to complete her pharmacy degree. She is completing her PGY1 residency at Nebraska Medicine and will stay on to complete her PGY2 in Solid Organ Transplantation. Her current practice interests include immunology, infectious diseases in immunocompromised populations, and public health.

Katrina DerryKatie Derry, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP is a Pharmacy Specialist for Medication Use Policy and Residency Program Director (RPD) for the PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy program UC San Diego Health. Her primary responsibilities include formulary management, medication utilization and optimization, resident research coordination, and bedside ICU care. Her primary research interests anticoagulation reversal, pharmacotherapy of liver disease, and sedation and analgesia management in the ICU.
