Other disciplines have used telehealth in the past with much success and the current healthcare landscape necessitates flexibility & innovation in delivery of care. This podcast will describe how pharmacists have incorporated telehealth into practice and how practitioners can use it to improve access to care.
SPEAKERS
Leigh Vasko, PharmD, BCACP, (she/her), earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University. Following graduation, she completed her PGY1 and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy residencies at Columbus Regional Health. At the completion of her residency training, Dr. Vasko joined the Birmingham VA Healthcare System as a clinical pharmacist in Primary Care at the Huntsville VA Outpatient Clinic. She is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist. Additionally, Dr. Vasko holds appointments as affiliate clinical assistant professor for Auburn University and Samford University.
Sara Ward, PharmD, BCCP, (she/her), is a cardiology clinical pharmacy specialist at the Cleveland Clinic. She currently works in the heart failure ambulatory clinic and focuses on medication optimization and titration. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina and PGY2 cardiology residency training at UK HealthCare. Her areas of interest include heart failure, heart transplant, and hospital transitions of care.
Mary Pat Bulfin, PharmD, BCPS, CPHQ, (she/her/hers), received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2018. She completed her postgraduate year 1 Pharmacy Practice residency at Novant Health in Winston-Salem, NC, in 2019 and her PGY2 Medication Use Safety residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, in 2020. Mary Pat has served as the medication safety pharmacist for adult patients at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus since August 2020.
Whitney White, PharmD, BCPS, FASHP, FALSHP received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Mississippi College and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Huntsville Hospital. After previous roles in academia at two different institutions and practice within the VA health care system, Dr. White is currently a faculty member at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and clinical pharmacist practitioner in Primary Care at the Birmingham VA. She is a previous chair of the ASHP Section of Inpatient Practitioners Educational Steering Committee and the Council on Education & Workforce Development.
