This two-part podcast series provides listeners with a review of updates to the diabetes treatment guidelines. Speakers share an overview of guideline updates, evaluate treatment options, and discuss methods of addressing issues related to affordability and access to medications.

Avni Patel, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at University of New Mexico Hospitals and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her professional interests include primary care, cardiology, transitions of care, service implementation, and student and resident education. Avni is a member of the ASHP New Practitioners Forum, ASHP SACP Section Advisory Group on Ambulatory Care Pharmacotherapy, and ACCP Ambulatory Care Practice and Research Network Research Process Committee.
Dr. Erin Copi received her PharmD degree from the University of Toledo. She completed a PGY1 residency in Community Pharmacy at Michigan Medicine and a PGY2 residency in Ambulatory Care at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She currently works as an Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacist with Parkview Health in Bryan, Ohio. She is a member of the ASHP SAG on Ambulatory Care Pharmacotherapy and treasurer for the Toledo Area Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists.
Dr. Ben Modrell received his PharmD from Drake University in 2019. In addition to obtaining his PharmD, he also completed a concentration in diabetes. He completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Ascension St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Currently, he is working as a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident at CoxHealth in Springfield, MO.
Kristi W. Kelley is a Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacist with Continuity Clinics with Brookwood Baptist Health, Internal Medicine Residency Program in Birmingham, Alabama. In the clinic, Dr. Kelley precepts pharmacy students and assists with education of other health professionals. Her focus in clinical practice, teaching, and research includes diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and working with underserved patient populations.
