Diabetes Guidelines Update Part II

This two-part podcast series will provide listeners with a review of updates to the diabetes treatment guidelines. Speakers will provide an overview of guideline updates, evaluate treatment options, and discuss methods of addressing issues related to affordability and access to medications.

SPEAKERS

Jeremy SparksDr. Jeremy Sparks is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacist at the Tulane Primary Care Clinic at University Medical Center New Orleans, where he manages medication therapy of chronic diseases for those with diabetes and hypertension.

Adrian SandovalAdrian Sandoval, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, is an Associate Professor at UTRGV School of Medicine, where he serves as Director of Pharmacotherapy and Vice-Chair/Research for the Family Medicine department. Dr. Sandoval is a clinical pharmacy specialist at UTHealth-RGV and faculty for the Family Medicine residency programs. He completed an Ambulatory-Care/Community Pharmacy Residency at Scott & White Healthcare and received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree (summa cum laude) from Texas A&M University College of Pharmacy.

Amanda PopkoAmanda Popko, PharmD, BCACP, CACP, is the Eastern Region Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Family Practice with the Geisinger Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Program. At her community practice site, she specializes in chronic disease management and anticoagulation. Among her other administrative and clinical duties, Dr. Popko also serves as preceptor for the Geisinger Wyoming Valley PGY1 Residency Ambulatory Care elective learning experience and the Geisinger Northeast Clinic Ambulatory Care PGY1 Residency Primary Care rotations.

Nick LadziakDr. Nick Ladziak graduated from the University at Buffalo with his PharmD in 2015 and completed a PGY1 at Celebration Health in Orlando and an ambulatory care PGY2 at Buffalo Medical Group/University at Buffalo. He obtained board certification in ambulatory care as well as certification as a diabetes care and education specialist. Dr. Ladziak currently works as a clinical pharmacy specialist at Banner Health in Phoenix in both primary care and endocrinology clinics.
