In this podcast, a student pharmacist and two recent graduates discuss their experiences completing a dual degree PharmD program. Panelists explore areas related to time management, the pros and cons of pursuing dual graduate degrees, and the changing role of pharmacy professionals today.
SPEAKERS
Clarissa Garcia, BA, she/her/hers is a third-year pharmacy student at Loma Linda University in her final quarter of her Bioethics dual degree program. Clarissa completed her undergraduate training at the University of San Diego in 2020. Clarissa’s professional interests include acute care medicine and clinical ethics, particularly the role of pharmacists on hospital ethics committees. Her career aspirations include working as a clinical pharmacy specialist while also serving on the ethics committee for that institution.
Alexis Hyman, she/her/hers is a graduating fourth-year-pharmacy student attending Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy on the Abilene campus where she was in the MBA dual-degree program. She is also an incoming HSPAL resident at Houston Methodist within the University of Houston Program. Alexis is passionate about leadership and advancing the scope of pharmacy practice while paving the way for future healthcare professionals.
Adejumoke (Jumoke) Shofoluwe, she/her is a fourth-year PharmD/Master's in Health Informatics and Information Management student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's College of Pharmacy in Memphis, TN. She is passionate about advocating for non-traditional pharmacist roles and encouraging her peers to explore different avenues. Upon graduation, she will be begin an Internal Medicine, Field Medical Outcomes and Analytics fellowship with Pfizer through the Rutger's Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program.
Dillon Solliday, MBA, BS, he/him/his is a third-year student pharmacist at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He is currently the president of his local ASHP SSHP chapter and serves on ASHP’s Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group. Dillon is passionate about pharmacy advocacy and has held policy positions in several organizations at the local, regional, and national levels. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys hiking, playing cello, and baking bread.
