In this ASHP podcast, student members discuss ASHP’s Experiential Education program and dive into the ins and outs of an APPE rotation in association management. ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Advisory Group members Rachael Crusius and Zach Krauss, engage with past ASHP externs about their virtual or in-person experiences and talk about how this rotation helped them to grow both professionally and personally in their pharmacy journey.
SPEAKERS
Rachel Crusius is a third year pharmacy student at the University of New Mexico with experience in hospital and retail pharmacy as well as research. She is interested in pursuing residency and is currently a member on ASHP's Career Development and Leadership Group.
Zach Krauss is a second-year student pharmacist at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. He is currently serving at his local SSHP chapter as secretary and the marketing chair, and serves in multiple other pharmacy organizations within his school of pharmacy. He currently serves within ASHP as the chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum SSDAG Student Liaison Webinar Workgroup.
Kaveh Oloumi is currently a final-year student pharmacist at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy – Glendale. He accumulated approximately 8 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, as well as some experience providing medication therapy management services as a pharmacy intern. Currently, he is currently serving in the Student Society Development Advisory Group, which serves to advise ASHP regarding the facilitation of growth and development of SSHPs.
Kaitlyn Grieves is a fourth-year student pharmacist at University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (UKCOP). During her time at UKCOP, Grieves has been an active participant in professional pharmacy organizations and is currently the student member on the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Management. Additionally, Grieves is an inpatient pharmacy intern at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Grieves is looking forward to pursuing a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency post graduation.
Dr. Gabrielle Pierce is currently the PGY1 Specialty Pharmacy Resident at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2020 with her PharmD and MBA. Dr. Pierce’s interests include specialty pharmacy, administration and leadership, medical writing and academia.
