Specialty pharmacy is a rapidly growing practice area within pharmacy, and has many unique career opportunities for students and new practitioners. In this episode, pharmacy students who currently work at health system specialty pharmacies discuss their roles and experiences in specialty pharmacy.

Hannah Henderson is a fourth-year pharmacy student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She started working at the UI Health Specialty Pharmacy Services during her P1 year and has been there all throughout pharmacy school. She has learned so much through her experiences working in a specialty pharmacy and hopes to pursue a PGY1 in specialty pharmacy.
Sara Baghdadi is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she attended Eastern Michigan University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Sara has been an intern at the Michigan Medicine Specialty pharmacy since May 2021, where she is responsible for following-up with patients about their specialty medications and some pharmacy improvement projects. Sara is also the vice president of the Arab American Pharmacist Association (AAPA) at her college.
Adriana Weiser is a fourth-year pharmacy student at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. She is originally from Giddings, Texas and earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of North Texas. She has been a pharmacy technician at Dell Children’s Medical Center for several years while serving in the student, state, and national societies of health-system pharmacists. Her post-graduate interests include hospital pharmacy management and medication safety in pediatrics.
