Maintaining wellness throughout the pursuit of a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree is challenging. Students must have open conversations about the difficulties of staying well so that we can normalize feeling unwell. In this episode, students from across the country share their experiences and tips to encourage others to maintain healthy lives and relationships throughout their pharmacy school careers.

Jordan Fortunato is currently a 2nd-year pharmacy student at The Ohio State University looking forward to completing both a PGY-1 & PGY-2 residency post-graduation. His current interests include hematology/oncology, critical care, neurology, and health-systems pharmacy administration and leadership. Jordan is a clinical pharmacy intern at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and works at the James Cancer Hospital. In his free time, Jordan enjoys working out, running Spartan races, and spending time with family and friends.
Elisa Mercado is a P3 student at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy. Elisa is active in student organizations on campus, while holding an officer position in both APhA-ASP and ASHP-SSHP. Elisa is a pharmacy intern at Walgreen’s and University of New Mexico Hospital. Elisa is planning to pursue a residency and is interested in Heath System Administration, Women’s Health, and Informatics.
Dustin Moon is a fourth-year pharmacy student at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. Dustin is the past president of South Dakota State’s SSHP chapter, and like to hike, fish, and workout in his free time. He plans on pursuing a first-year residency after graduation this spring, and his career interests at this time include infectious disease, emergency medicine, and ambulatory care pharmacy.
Doug Lasch is a final-year PharmD Candidate at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy who serves as the Communications Work Group Lead on the ASHP Student Society Development Advisory Group. He maintains wellness by spending time with friends, exploring new restaurants and bars, listening to true-crime podcasts, and visiting the beach in his hometown of Wilmington, NC.
