Autumn Pinard is a third-year student pharmacist at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy. In addition to completing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Autumn is also pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration. Autumn was raised in a small rural town in New Mexico and will be the first in her family to graduate college in May of 2022. During her time at UNM COP, Autumn has been an active student leader holding numerous leadership positions locally and nationally. Autumn is the Vice-Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee this year and serves as Liaison to the Residency Preparation Advisory Group.
Maiah Hardin is a fourth-year pharmacy student at the University of Louisiana Monroe College of Pharmacy, and received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018. Maiah has remained extensively involved in pharmacy organizations such as Rho Chi, Phi Lambda Sigma, SSHP, SNPhA, APhA, and Kappa Epsilon. She is in her third year of participation in an ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Advisory Group, and currently holds a position in the Residency Preparation Advisory Group as a work group lead. Maiah's post-graduate aspirations include pursuing PGY-1 and PGY-2 residencies with interests in ambulatory care or internal medicine. She hopes to one day oversee her own clinical pharmacy service with a future in academia.
Benjamin Gross is the Director of Residency Programs and Director of Assessment for Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy. He currently is a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Director and has served in that role for 11 years. He also has served as a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency Director. Gross received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Murray State University and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Tennessee. Gross completed a specialty residency in primary care with the University of Tennessee and Holston Medical Group. Before joining the faculty at Lipscomb University, Gross spent five years as an assistant professor for the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and resident director for the primary care residency at Holston Medical Group. Gross also served as clinical pharmacy director for the practice which included coordinating clinical pharmacy involvement in a Level 3 patient-centered medical home model. Gross recently completed his Master of Business Administration from Lipscomb University. Gross has continued to advance his expertise by earning a number of certifications including Certified Diabetes Educator, Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Manager, Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, Board Certified Ambulatory Care Specialist, and Certified Hypertension Clinician. Gross also received certifications in diabetes including insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring. He currently practices under a collaborative practice agreement in a large private practice physician group.
Dr. Melissa Santibañez received her Pharm.D. from Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) in 2015. She subsequently completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy (Chicago, IL) in 2016 and a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) in 2017. She has been an assistant professor focused in acute care therapeutics at Larkin University College of Pharmacy (Miami, FL) since 2017, with a clinical practice site focused on critical care outcomes/research at Memorial Regional Hospital (Hollywood, FL).
Dr. Sandra Benavides is Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Assessment and Program Quality at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy. Dr. Benavides is a specialist in the area of pediatric pharmacotherapy. She has extensive experience in the hospital, community, and ambulatory settings providing direct patient care to children and adolescents. She is the lead editor in the Pediatric Pharmacotherapy and Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Self Assessment books geared towards pharmacy students and young practitioners. Dr. Benavides’ research interest revolve around safe medication use in pediatric patients, prevention of obesity and obesity-related diseases in children, and development of innovative pharmacy practice, specifically in pediatrics. She also publishes in the area of pharmacy education including innovative assessment methods for improved learning outcomes She has published over 60 peer reviewed articles, book chapters, and scientific abstracts. Aside from the two pediatric books, Dr. Benavides is also an editor in Get the Residency: American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ (ASHP) Guide to Residency Interviews and Preparation.
Mary Amato is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at MCPHS University in Boston and Sponsored Staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care, where she offers an advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) elective in Medication Safety. She received her BS Pharmacy degree in from the University of Iowa, Pharm.D. from the University of Texas, and MPH from the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston. She completed residencies in pharmacy practice and ambulatory care clinical pharmacy, and a fellowship in clinical pharmacy sciences. Her current research interests include use of health information technology to improve medication safety. She is currently the fellowship coordinator for a 2 year research fellowship in Outcomes Research and Informatics and has served in the past as a residency coordinator or preceptor for both pharmacy practice and specialty residencies.
