Listeners will learn about SOPIT’s pharmacy informaticist women leaders who are currently in high impact roles within their organizations. Discussion will involve their career paths, current or past activities they most enjoyed, advice for fellow informaticists, and where they envision informatics in the future.
SPEAKERS
Ellen Secaras, MBA, RPh is the corporate director of Pharmacy Systems Integration at RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Rutgers University, College of Pharmacy and her Masters in Business Administration, with a concentration in Healthcare Informatics at Southern New Hampshire University. Ellen’s responsibilities span across technologies that involve medications within our clinical information, operational or financial systems. She also oversees the organization’s pharmacy reimbursement and informatics divisions.
Doina Dumitru, PharmD, MBA, FASHP is currently senior director, Medical Affairs at BD, focused on medication technology development & research initiatives. Prior to BD, she served in various healthcare operations, informatics, clinical practice, and leadership in multiple healthcare organizations. Dr. Dumitru has also created pharmacy residency programs, precepted/mentored PGY-1/2 residents, and taught pharmacy law, informatics, and leadership principles. Her professional achievements include speaking & publication engagements, including author of The Pharmacy Informatics Primer.
Alexandria Hesketh, PharmD, MS, currently serves as the clinical pharmacy informatics manager at Cleveland Clinic and teaches a master level pharmacy informatics course as an adjunct faculty member at Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Pharmacy. Her professional training includes completing a Doctorate of Pharmacy at Loma Linda University in Southern California followed by concurrently completing a Health System Pharmacy Administration residency and a Master of Science in Health Informatics at The University of Iowa.
Carol White, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, BCGP, CPHIMS, is a director-at-large on the ASHP SOPIT Executive Committee from Nashville, Tennessee. She has worked in a variety of pharmacy informatics roles, including translational medication and safety data analytics, electronic health records management, and population health outcomes. In her role on the SOPIT EC, she has had the opportunity to interact with leaders from across the Section to identify needs, develop resources, and advocate for members.
