This podcast features a conversation about engaging the next generation of pharmacy leaders within pharmacy. As current health-system pharmacy leaders, the participants hope to discuss tools and strategies being used to foster leadership skills and develop an interest for emerging leaders in their organizations.

SPEAKERS

 Trent Beach, PharmD, MHA, MBA, BCPS, CPEL, FASHP, FACHE, is executive director of pharmacy for the Triangle East Region of UNC Health. Over Dr. Beach’s career, he has been responsible for clinical quality, medication use policy, medication safety, and clinical pharmacy practice, and operational integration across health enterprises. Beach is an award recipient of the Tennessee Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Health System Distinguished Service Award in recognition of career achievements.

Brian Latham Brian Latham, PharmD, MBA, CPEL (he/him) serves as executive director of pharmacy for Bon Secours Mercy Health. In this role he assists 21 hospitals and their pharmacy leaders with developing and executing pharmacy strategies surrounding clinical practice advancements, operational efficiencies, regulatory compliance, technology implementation, and supply chain/financial savings. Brian obtained his PharmD degree from Ohio Northern University and MBA from Louisiana State University. He was recognized in 2023 as a Certified Pharmacy Executive Leader through ASHP. 

Kemi Olatunji Kemi Olatunji, Pharm.D, MBA (she/her/hers) is a senior director of pharmacy services at Riverside Health with strategic oversight of patient safety, quality, and financial outcomes. She earned her dual degree from Howard University. For 15 years, she has excelled in leading transformative initiatives across various settings including academic, community health systems, and ambulatory with sustained results. Kemi is renowned for her business acumen, audacious approach to leading change, and ability to build resilient and engaged teams. 

Binita Patel Binita Patel, PharmD, MS, CPEL (she/her) is vice president of pharmacy services at Memorial Hermann Health System, overseeing pharmacy operations across 15 hospitals and various service lines. She directs the Health-System Administration Residency Program and has prior experience as a senior director at Pharmacy Healthcare Solutions and Lash Group. Binita received her BS in Microbiology at the University of Georgia, PharmD at the University of North Carolina, and Post-graduate year 1&2 with a MS in pharmacy administration at The Ohio State University. 

Majid-Theodore R. TanasMajid R. Tanas, PharmD, MHA, MS, FASHP (he/him) is the vice president of pharmacy/chief pharmacy officer at Legacy Health in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Tanas is an experienced pharmacy executive with numerous leadership positions at AMCs, Federal, and Community Health-Systems. His administrative interests include leadership development, operations, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. During his career, he has helped lead teams in building systems to meet the growing patient care needs and has spent much of his career establishing new service lines.
