In this Pharmacy Leadership Episode, Melanie Smith sits down with the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners 2023 Awardee, Megan Dorrell, to discuss what membership within the Section and ASHP means to her and how it has helped her develop as a pharmacy practice leader.

Megan DorrellMegan Dorrell, PharmD, BCACP, (she/her) is the vice president of clinical pharmacy strategy for Innovative Rx Strategies, an independent pharmacy benefits consulting firm. Innovative serves self-funded employers, benefits brokers, third-party administrators, health plans, and health-systems by providing custom and transparent pharmacy benefits solutions with the goal of lowering drug cost and improving member health outcomes. As clinical lead, she develops and orchestrates patient programming, new to market drug reviews, and optimizes formulary and utilization management programs. 

Melanie SmithMelanie R. Smith, PharmD, BCACP, DPLA is a director in the ASHP Office of Member Relations. She serves as an ASHP information resource and provides guidance on pharmacy practice in ambulatory care settings. Dr. Smith received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency at the Lexington VA Medical Center. She also holds her Board Certification in Ambulatory Care and completed the Pharmacy Leadership Academy through the ASHP Foundation.
