In this podcast, Dr. Charlene Williams and Dr. Mary Douglass discuss their upcoming session titled “ARISE and Shine: Preceptors’ Role in Mitigating Bias and Responding to Exclusionary Behaviors” at ASHP’s National Pharmacy Preceptors Conference.
SPEAKERS
Charlene Williams, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES, (she/her) completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed an ASHP-accredited specialty residency in primary care at Mission Hospital and Mountain Area Health Education Center. She is the director of preceptor development and a clinical associate professor at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She has experience starting various pharmacotherapy clinics, serving as a residency director and preceptor, working in ADA-accredited diabetes education centers, and serving as an experiential education director.
Mary Douglass Smith, PharmD (she/her) is the director of experiential education and an associate professor of pharmacy practice at Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy in Clinton, SC. She coordinates students on rotations and oversees preceptor development. She teaches in courses including Therapeutics of Self Care and APPE-Readiness and serves as a preceptor. Her research interests include personality assessments, student well-being, and professional development. She also serves on the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
Gina Luchen, PharmD serves as the ASHP director of Member Relations for the Sections of Pharmacy Educators and Community Pharmacy Practitioners. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads initiatives that influence practice and education across the care continuum. Dr. Luchen completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas, a postgraduate year 1 Community-Based Residency with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Balls Food Stores, and the Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management at ASHP.
