Nicole Pilch
Her Story
Dr. Pilch earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed both a PGY-1 Practice Residency and a PGY-2 Critical Care Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center. Following residency training, Dr. Pilch also completed a fellowship in Transplantation Clinical Research and completed her thesis research for her Masters in Clinical Research from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Pilch recently completed her second term as the Network Facilitator for Immunology/Transplant and served as ASHP’s content matter expert for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties petition for Solid Organ Transplant as a specialty.
Overview of Facility/Health System
The Medical University of South Carolina is a 713 bed teaching hospital. That has a dedicated childrens hospital and is the only transplant center in the state of South Carolina.
Significant Projects
Active in seeking board certification for transplant pharmacists.
Research areas include patient safety and adherence. Recently expanded her role from the Director of Quality and Compliance in Transplant to the Director of Regulatory Affairs/Accreditation for the medical center. Able to be involved not only transplant but all facets of the hosptial's regulatory and accreditation needs. Also my teamsupports quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) efforts across the organization.
Advice for Someone New to Your Specialty Area
There are at least 10 correct answers to each issue in patient safety, quality and transplant!
