Initial Involvement in ASHP

“ASHP offers numerous opportunities to expand and promote the profession of pharmacy through involvement in committees, both nationally and through state organization affiliations.”

Advice for Someone New to Your Specialty Area

“Internal medicine involves nearly every disease state and is the backbone of most specialty areas of practice. Never stop pushing yourself to familiarize yourself with as much evidence based literature as possible. The more knowledge you gain, the more credible your recommendations become, and the more respect you will garner with your fellow health care colleagues.”

Value of ASHP

“ASHP is continually looking for ways to promote the profession of pharmacy within health systems and provides countless tools and support to its members to expand clinical and academic pharmacy services. As the expectations for pharmacists and the profession of pharmacy continue to grow, ASHP provides a platform to showcase our skills and contributions to patient care.”

“As the desire for provider status continues to grow, ASHP has taken a major role in political action to have our profession recognized as a provider of health care. ASHP listens to its members, and responds to its needs for expansion and representation.”
