Christopher Wang
His Story
Dr. Wang received his PharmD degree from the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at the University of Texas/MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is a current PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Overview of Facility/Health System
The MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX is the largest cancer center in the United States and one of the three original Comprehensive Cancer Centers. It is considered an academic medical center affiliated with the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Significant Projects
As part of my residency program I have been leading projects on the safety and efficacy of using direct oral anticoagulants as thromboprophylaxis in multiple myeloma patients and on ways to increase appropriate venous thromboembolism for eligible hospitalized medical patients with cancer. Additionally, I have had opportunities to write articles and research abstracts with clinical pharmacists on new treatments for myasthenia gravis, sodium disorders, and maintenance FLT3 inhibitors in FLT3-mutated acute myeloid leukemia.

Balance an openness to new opportunities with work-life balance when accepting new commitments and projects.
What is your current involvement with ASHP?
I currently serve as a resident member of the ASHP Emerging Sciences Section Advisory Groups (SAG) in the 2022-2023 year.
Why did you become involved in ASHP?
Because of the networking, writing, and research opportunities open to ASHP members.
How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?
ASHP affords opportunities to advocate for the clinical pharmacy profession and to connect with clinical pharmacists across the nation at annual meetings and through clinical section groups.
What is the value of ASHP for the profession?
ASHP helps advocate to advance the field of clinical pharmacy and advance pharmacist-led research.
