Ali McBride currently serves as the Director of US Health Economics and Outcomes Research in Hematology at Bristol Myers Squibb. Dr. McBride was previously the Clinical Coordinator of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Arizona Cancer Center and served as the PGY-2 Oncology Residency Program Director. He served as the Past-President of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and he has been actively involved with the Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA). Dr. McBride received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in Tucson, AZ. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Physiology, and a Masters of Science in Biology from Purdue University. He completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice (PGY1) at the Carl T. Hayden VAMC in Phoenix, AZ and an oncology (PGY2) residency at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.   

Dr. McBride has worked on oncology drug shortages and has testified on behalf of HOPA at an FDA Drug Shortage Workshop, and presented on behalf of ACCC at the Washington D.C. Congressional Session. Dr. McBride is also actively involved with biosimilar regulation and the pharmacoeconomic impact of biosimilars into the US Health system. He has advocated for both state and national policies to address regulatory access to biosimilars. He has also worked to address patient access in Arizona for oral chemotherapy by working alongside state legislature to address oral chemotherapy parity legislation for Arizona cancer patients. Dr. McBride continues to extend the scope of practice for pharmacists nationally, to advocate for prescriber status for pharmacists.

Dr. McBride has been an engaged ASHP member throughout his entire career, with service to Advisory Groups in the New Practitioners Forum, the Section of Ambulatory Care Pharmacists, and the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders. He was also a long-time member, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists (SCSS) Advisory Group on Emerging Sciences. Dr. McBride has been a member of the Council on Therapeutics, manuscript reviewer for the Best Practices Award, was an invited member of the ASHP Drug Shortage Stakeholders Meeting, and most recently was a member of the SCSS Committee on Nominations. He is a recognized Fellow of ASHP.
