Kimber Boothe
Her Story
Dr. Kimber Boothe, PharmD, MHA is a pharmacist, healthcare leader, and entrepreneur with decades of experience in Health Systems and the pharmaceutical industry. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy and Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, University of Phoenix Masters in Health Administration program, and completed residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia Hospitals.
Describe the facility where you work (eg. Is it a teaching hospital? Health Center?
She is the founder and CEO of the Kimber Boothe Group where she provides coaching, consulting, courses, and speaking on strategic pharmacy leadership. Kimber previously led the pharmacy services for a 4 hospital community health system where she is drove innovative strategy for the pharmacy enterprise as System Director of Pharmacy. She was also the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Yale New Haven Health.
Recent Significant Projects
My motto is Pharmacy Can Do More with More. I've had the privilege of supporting innovative pharmacy practice advancement through consulting, and coaching to add over 200 positions to across multiple health systems. Bold business plans justified expansion of roles and resources for the pharmacy enterprise in acute care, ambulatory care, infusion, and specialty pharmacy services.

Why did you become involved in ASHP?
Since my personal pharmacist took me to my first pharmacy association meeting, when I was a first year student, I have been hooked. I gain so much personal value from the professional development and networking provided by organizations. The advocacy supported by the society protects and propels the profession. ASHP provides a professional home that allows me to go deep on the Pharmacy Enterprise.
Advice for Someone New to Specialty Area
Leadership in pharmacy is essential at all levels within our organizations. My top advice is to:
- be accountable for all medication use across the continuum
- be bold in justifying resources to advance practice and deliver on the quadruple aim
- build collaborative relationships with all members of the healthcare team
How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?
Investing in yourself through membership in ASHP will provide you tremendous value. You will have access to comprehensive resources for your professional development, opportunities for leadership, and many networking opportunities.
What is the value of ASHP for the profession?
ASHP is a strong voice for pharmacy and healthcare advocating for the needs of our profession and our patients. I have witnessed the extensive support ASHP provides to state affiliates to address local issues while also leading on the national front. ASHP also collaborates beyond pharmacy to continue the mission with organizations such as Get the Medicines Right (GTMRx)
