Advice for Someone New to Specialty Area
Be uncomfortable. Volunteer for different projects and work in unfamiliar areas. Not only will your abilities and knowledge grow but you may also find areas of interest that you didn't realize were possible in practice.
How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?
ASHP is able to keep clinicians connected and informed. It gives the individual opportunities to grow and learn which is especially important in a field of which by design often is limited in the day-to-day pharmacist to pharmacist connections.
What is the value of ASHP for the profession?
Organizations such as ASHP are invaluable to the profession. The ability to learn and grow within the field of pharmacy require relationships with both like-minded and differently minded individuals. ASHP allows pharmacists to connect and communicate with those who are leading the field allowing for smoother transitions within and creation of new programming and clinical opportunities for patient care.
