Describe the facility where you work:
UC Davis Health is improving lives and transforming health care by providing excellent patient care, conducting groundbreaking research, fostering innovative, interprofessional education, and creating dynamic, productive partnerships with the community. The academic health system includes one of the country’s best medical schools, a 627-bed acute-care teaching hospital, a 1,000-member physician's practice group and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. It is home to a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, an international neurodevelopmental institute, a stem cell institute, and a comprehensive children’s hospital. Other nationally prominent centers focus on advancing telemedicine, improving vascular care, eliminating health disparities and translating research findings into new treatments for patients. Andoh leads home infusion operations out of the UC Davis Health Pharmacy Shared Services Center. This facility is an 18,000-square-foot building housing specialty pharmacy, supply chain, ambulatory clinical services, home infusion, and a four-chair ambulatory infusion suite on site.

What type of significant project have you been involved in recently?
Recently, I have been building out our comprehensive sterile compounding operation which includes the installation of a TPN automated compounder to accompany our 1,800-square-foot modular cleanroom build. Additionally, integrating user-friendly technology into our service line has been a priority of mine. One of the biggest components of this will be migrating to the EPIC Home Infusion Module soon.

What kind of advice would you provide for someone new to your specialty area?
Be a sponge and take every opportunity to learn the small details of our business. Home Infusion is extremely nuanced and a very interdisciplinary specialty. Pharmacy is only a piece of the pie. Build community and get involved within home infusion associations to help guide and advise you along the way.

What is your current involvement with ASHP?
Currently, I am a member of the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders' Section Advisory Group on Frontline Leaders.

Why did you become involved in ASHP?
I got involved with ASHP because of the expansive resources and mentors available with the organization. It's always motivating being around likeminded professionals who collectively want to push health-system pharmacy practice forward.

How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?
ASHP is the hub of all information and resources pertinent to health system pharmacy practice. No matter what it is you need, ASHP has a resource, a group of individuals, or volunteer opportunities which will align with what you're looking for. If your career goals align with health system pharmacy practice, I'd recommend ASHP as your professional home to support your career growth over the years.

What is the value of ASHP for the profession?
ASHP houses a conglomerate of the most accomplished professionals in hospitals and health systems around the nation and more recently, the world. This group is able to leverage collective expertise and influence to advocate on behalf of our profession and patients alike. In addition to advocacy, ASHP serves as the gold standard for various practice settings within the context of health systems. With that said, ASHP occupies a pivotal role in upholding quality patient care standards across our profession.
