When did you first join ASHP?
I first joined ASHP as a first-year Student Pharmacist.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am currently serving as Vice Chair of the Advancement of Professional Practice Advisory Group.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite aspect of being an ASHP student member is engaging with fellow Student Pharmacists to develop innovative strategies for advancing our profession. The most valuable benefit of my membership has been the opportunity to hone my leadership skills by co-leading an advisory group, while challenging my creativity to implement new and effective ideas that foster interaction and promote engagement within the group.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite memory so far has been building stronger connections with my fellow advisory group members. Having a support network that shares your ambitions brings a great sense of reassurance, and motivates each of us to continue pursuing our personal and professional goals.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
If I could offer any advice to other student pharmacists interested in getting involved with national organizations, it would be this: Don’t hesitate; just go for it! Even if it’s as simple as submitting an application, you never know if you’ll be selected! And once you are, focus on learning how to excel in that role, drawing insights from your peers along the way. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you’re nervous about taking on a position because you’re unsure of how to fulfill the responsibilities, remember that the person before you likely felt the same way!
