Pharmacy professionals face new challenges and opportunities. With rapid advances in diagnostics and therapeutics, personalized medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual healthcare, and changing societal needs, ASHP and our exceptional members must focus on addressing the needs of today while also preparing to create the future of healthcare and pharmacy practice.

With that future in mind, ASHP has reimagined our annual Summer Meetings, transforming the event into what will now be known as ASHP Pharmacy Futures. I hope you will join us for the inaugural event in Portland, Oregon, on June 8–12, 2024, to participate in forward-looking discussions, fresh educational programming, and numerous networking opportunities.

Based on ASHP member feedback, this year’s ASHP Pharmacy Futures 2024 meeting will include our first-ever AI summit. The summit will provide two days of focused content on the impact of AI in pharmacy practice and healthcare, featuring high-profile keynote addresses, engaging educational content, interactive discussion, and contemporary exhibit programs. In 2025 and beyond, Pharmacy Futures will include summits on a relevant futuristic theme or pressing topic of the day.

The ASHP Pharmacy Futures meeting will also continue to include the annual in-person meeting of the House of Delegates, the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award, numerous networking opportunities and ASHP Foundation events, the inauguration of new officers and board members, and much more.

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians attending ASHP Pharmacy Futures 2024 will have access to educational sessions on the most pressing pharmacy issues of today. Our immersive meeting experience will support our members who exemplify the best of the profession and seek to improve patient care by practicing at the top of their license.

Integrating the AI summit into the meeting will invite pharmacy practitioners, leaders, and innovators to collaborate, learn about, and shape the ongoing integration of AI in pharmacy practice. Attendees will explore what AI means for pharmacy, why it matters, and how to responsibly bring it to their practice.

Registration for ASHP Pharmacy Futures 2024, inclusive of the AI summit, will open midday on Feb. 8, 2024. We are looking forward to this exciting new addition to ASHP’s portfolio of world-class meetings and educational offerings.
