From the 2021 Midyear Clinical Meetings, researchers with the support of the ASHP Foundation share the preliminary results of their ongoing study that looks at satisfaction levels of pharmacy technicians working in ambulatory care. Their research is also seeking to obtain a deeper understanding of variation in the roles of pharmacy technicians in the ambulatory care setting and explore factors influencing job satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
SPEAKERS
Dr. Elizabeth Schlosser is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences with a focus in Population Health at the University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy. She coordinates the Pharmacy Practice Advancement I course in the third pharmacy professional year. She also serves as the Coordinator of the Co-Curricular Program where she is responsible for coordinating the co-curricular program to complement the curriculum in order to achieve excellence in student outcomes. The duties of the Co-Curricular Coordinator include ongoing evaluation and revision of the co-curricular process, assessment of co-curricular activities/partners, and education of faculty regarding the co-curricular program. Dr. Schlosser also maintains an active practice in Population Health and Ambulatory Care at St. Elizabeth Physicians and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP). Dr. Schlosser’s research has focused in population health initiatives including the advancement of pharmacy technicians into non-traditional roles.
Dr. Schlosser has been very involved in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists throughout her career. She has served as a member and Chair of the New Practitioners Forum Career Development Advisory Group. She also served as a member on the ASHP New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee. Currently, she serves on the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators Student Education and Learning Experience Advisory Group.
Tyffani T. Wingfield, Ph.D., M.A. is the ASHP Director of the Pharmacy Technician Forum. In this role, Dr. Wingfield serves as secretary to the Forum’s Executive Committee and leads the development and implementation of national tools, resources, and programs for pharmacy technicians.
Prior to ASHP, Dr. Wingfield served in a variety leadership roles for the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Army Office of Business Transformation, and NASA Office of Education. With over twenty-two years of experience, she is proficient in working closely with organizational leaders in promoting dynamic teams/culture, developing policies and effective communications strategies, and advancing membership engagement.
She holds B.A. in English and biology from Virginia Commonwealth University, a M.A. in higher education administration & supervision from The George Washington University, and a Ph.D. in organizational management with a focus in executive leadership from Capella University.
