ASHP National meetings team education director Cynthia von Heeringen joins faculty member and licensed clinical social worker Kristy deVries from Nationwide Children’s Hospital to discuss the upcoming Pharmacy Futures workshop on Second Victim Program Implementation. This half day program is included with registration and will provide attendees with background knowledge and skills to provide second victim support as well as a strategic toolkit to implement a second victims support program at their own facility.
Kristy deVries, MSW, LISW-S, (she/her) joined Nationwide Children's Hospital in January 2020 following a 30-year career in child welfare. Kristy is an alumna of The Ohio State University, holding both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work, as well as a Certificate in Public and Non-profit Leadership from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. She also holds a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies. Kristy enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her 13 grandchildren during her leisure hours.
Cynthia von Heeringen is an education director on the National Meetings Education Team at ASHP and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing medical education, continuing professional development programs, and other clinical resources for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. This includes developing educational content for ASHP’s national meetings, and other special education activities. With extensive experience in acute care clinical practice and operational supervision, she is passionate about medication safety and process optimization. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy.
