ASHP official hosts Accreditation services staff members Andrea Haron and Michelle McCarthy as they share expert insights on preceptor focused programming that will be available in June at the newly designed ASHP Pharmacy Futures meeting.

SPEAKERS

Andrea Walsh HaronAndrea Walsh Haron, PharmD is an accreditation services associate in ASHP's Accreditation Services Office since January 2015, conducting accreditation site surveys for pharmacy residency programs throughout the United States and since 2022, lead for international program surveys. Andrea earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences in Boston, and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island. 

Michelle McCarthyMichelle McCarthy, PharmD, FASHP, DPLA, (she/her) graduated from Mercer University and completed University of Pittsburgh's ASHP-accredited drug information residency. Dr. McCarthy is an ASHP senior accreditation services associate. She practiced at University of Virginia (UVa) Health from 1997-2021 as the pharmacy education coordinator and PGY1 RPD (2007-2021). Under her leadership, UVA's PGY1 pharmacy residency was awarded ASHP Foundation’s 2015 Residency Expansion Grant and 2017 Residency Excellence Program Award. She served on the ASHP Commission on Credentialing (2008-2013) including chair in 2012. 

Cynthia von HeeringenCynthia von Heeringen is an education director on the National Meetings Education Team at ASHP and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing medical education, continuing professional development programs, and other clinical resources for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. This includes developing educational content for ASHP’s national meetings, and other special education activities. With extensive experience in acute care clinical practice and operational supervision, she is passionate about medication safety and process optimization. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy.
