ASHP Official welcomes Sara Stallworth and Timothy Aungst for a lively discussion about a session they collaborated on for the inaugural ASHP Pharmacy Futures in Portland. Using the future focused theme of AI, Navigating the Future: AI, Digital Health, and Technology in Pharmacy Precepting, Sara and Tim have creatively designed strategies for preceptors to engage with learners using technology, and provide background knowledge for preceptors to guide safe use and adoption of new platforms in their experiential learning plans.
SPEAKERS
Sara Stallworth, PharmD, MPH, BCCCP (she) is currently completing a post-doctoral academic fellowship at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed her PharmD training at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and went on to complete her PGY-1 and PGY-2 critical care residency training at Duke University Hospital. She is passionate about the use of generative AI platforms to augment pharmacy education, pharmacy student wellbeing, and critical care pharmacy.
Timothy Aungst, PharmD, (he/him) is a professor of pharmacy practice and a leading expert on digital health within the field of pharmacy. He has been an advisor and subject matter expert on the use of AI, digital therapeutics, digital medicines, combination products, and medication adherence technology.
Cynthia von Heeringen is an education director on the National Meetings Education Team at ASHP and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing medical education, continuing professional development programs, and other clinical resources for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. This includes developing educational content for ASHP’s national meetings, and other special education activities. With extensive experience in acute care clinical practice and operational supervision, she is passionate about medication safety and process optimization. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy.
