Evaluating the Effects of A Mindfulness Mobile Application on Student Pharmacists’ Stress, Mindfulness and Burnout

In today’s episode, ASHPOfficial hosts a conversation with the research grant teams from the ASHP Foundation New Practitioner Pharmacists Leadership Grant.

Listen in as our speakers discuss lessons learned during their project using a web-based app to affect stress, mindfulness, and burnout on pharmacy students. Topics include future implications, and further implementation for research, and the impact of the ASHP Foundation grant in the project as well as advice for those submitting for this grant and the impact of the research.

SPEAKERS

Jennifer TyraJennifer Tyra is a Membership Program Coordinator within the ASHP Office of Member Relations. In this role, she manages several member programs. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Kentucky. Wellness and well-being have long been a personal interest. She has been an avid yogi for many years.

Angela ChuDr. Angela Chu is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Director of Interprofessional Education at Roseman University of Health Sciences. She received her BA in Spanish and PharmD at Ohio Northern University and completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Truman Medical Centers. Currently, Dr. Chu practices as a neurology clinical pharmacist at Intermountain Medical Center, where she serves as an APPE and PGY-1 preceptor. She also serves on ASHP’s New Practitioner Forum as a member of the Career Development Advisory Group.

Tyler RoseTyler Rose, Ph.D., is a founding faculty member at the South Jordan, Utah campus of the Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy, where he teaches science and calculations classes in Roseman’s block-style, mastery curriculum and serves on the college’s faculty development committee. Tyler obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Utah. His educational research interests have primarily centered on how visual and web-based modalities affect learning and behavior.
