In this podcast we will discuss alternate routes of analgesic administration for when intravenous and/or oral access is not available. This will include sublingual, subcutaneous, intranasal, inhalation, and others as well as what medications are best suited for these routes based on their pharmacokinetics.

Jessica Nesheim, PharmD, BCPS is an emergency medicine clinical pharmacy specialist and emergency medicine PGY2 residency program director at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Jessica serves on interdisciplinary commmittees locally and nationally for emergency medicine and opioid stewardship. She is an active member of the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA), ACCP Emergency Medicine PRN and ASHP Emergency Medicine Section Advisory Group (SAG) and is an adjunct assistant professor at Drake University.
Jenny Koehl, PharmD, BCPS is an emergency medicine clinical pharmacist and coordinator of the postgraduate year 2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. After earning her PharmD degree at UCSF (2015), she returned to Wisconsin to complete her PGY-1 and PGY-2 Emergency Medicine pharmacy residencies (2015-2017) at the University of Wisconsin Health. Following residency, she moved to Boston to join the incredible EM team at MGH. Her passions include advancing pharmacy resident education and research training, mentorship, national committee involvement, and global health. Her clinical practice interests include neurology and cardiology.
Megan Musselman, PharmD, MS, BCPS, BCCCP is an emergency medicine clinical pharmacist and postgraduate year 2 emergency medicine residency program director at North Kansas City Hospital. She received her PharmD from Creighton University and went on to complete her PGY1 at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago and her PGY2 emergency medicine residency at the Detroit Receiving Hospital. Her practice interests are toxicology, neurotrauma critical care, and clinical leadership.
