As a part STI Awareness month, our content matter experts sit down to discuss recent changes in the CDC treatment guidelines and discuss the impact these have on patients and the role the pharmacist can play in implementing these new changes.
SPEAKERS
Bhavik Shah earned his doctorate of pharmacy from Rutgers University, and completed post-graduate training in pharmacy practice and infectious diseases at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is an associate professor at the Jefferson College of Pharmacy and co-director of the Pharmacology thread in the JeffMD curriculum at SIdney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He is an active member of ASHP and ACCP. Within ASHP, he has served as vice-chair and is currently the chair of the Year-Round Educational Steering Committee for 2020-2021.
Dr. L. Hunter Reese is an emergency medicine clinical pharmacy specialist practicing at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University and completed his PGY1 residency at MetroHealth. Following residency, Dr. Reese worked to establish clinical pharmacy services in the MetroHealth emergency department. His professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, sepsis, and antithrombotic reversal. Dr. Reese is a member of the ASHP Emergency Care Section Advisory Group.
