Elizabeth Pogge, Professor at Midwestern University and Gina Luchen, ASHP’s Director of Academic Programs discuss the importance of creating precepting habits that stick. Dr. Pogge addresses common preceptor challenges and pearls in preparation for ASHP’s National Pharmacy Preceptors Conference.

Dr. Elizabeth Pogge is an ambulatory care pharmacist that specializes in cardiology. She currently is a Professor at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy—Glendale (CPG) and a clinical pharmacist at Cardiac Solutions in Peoria, Arizona. Her interests include preceptor development, geriatrics, education, and cardiology.
Gina Luchen, Pharm.D. serves as the Director of Academic Programs at ASHP. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads the development and implementation of programs and initiatives related to student pharmacists, schools and colleges of pharmacy, and pharmacy educators. She serves as staff liaison to the Pharmacy Student Forum and Section of Pharmacy Educators. Prior to this role, Dr. Luchen served as an ASHP Executive Fellow in Association Leadership and Management at ASHP. She received her Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Studies and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. Following her studies, she completed a PGY1 Community-Based Residency at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in conjunction with Balls Food Stores in Olathe, KS.
