This podcast focuses on the perspective of two Residency Program Directors who have extensive experience with residency training and the Match process. Speakers share their experiences and guidance on how applicants can align their expectations and goals with a program that best matches their aspirations. This podcast episode will help future applicants prepare for the process of identifying and applying to their best fit residency program.
SPEAKERS
Calvin Ice, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, is a graduate of Ohio Northern University and completed PGY1, then PGY2 residency training in critical care at Mayo Clinic. He is currently a clinical pharmacy services supervisor and PGY1 residency program director at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Ice is a member of the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialist and Scientists’ Clinical Leadership Advisory Group.
Megan Musselman, PharmD, MS, BCPS, BCCCP, DPLA, FCCP, is an emergency medicine clinical pharmacist and PGY2 emergency medicine residency program director at North Kansas City Hospital. She received her PharmD from Creighton University and went on to complete her PGY1 at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago and her PGY2 emergency medicine residency at the Detroit Receiving Hospital. Her practice interests are toxicology, neurotrauma critical care, and clinical leadership.
Chinyere Onyirimba PharmD, is currently a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist with Baylor Scott & White Health where she completed her Community-Based PGY-1 Residency with Baylor Health Enterprises and PGY-2 HSPAL Residency. Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, she chose pharmacy as her career of choice at age 16 after being mentored by a pharmacy student who attended Hampton University and believes service and volunteerism are at the core of the work she wants to provide as a pharmacist.
Jessica Conn, PharmD, is a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner at the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System. She completed her PGY-1 residency at the Orlando VA Healthcare System in 2022 and received her PharmD from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, Orlando campus in 2021. Jessica is currently a member of the ASHP NPF Executive Committee and previously served as chair of the PSF Student Society Development Advisory Group.
