As pharmacists, we are extensively trained on the intricacies of evaluating medical literature, but how can we do it more efficiently? In this podcast episode, we interview Dr. Garrett Schramm, Director of Pharmacy Education and Academic Affairs at Mayo Clinic - Rochester and Dr. Scott Nei, Cardiovascular Critical Care Pharmacist and PGY1 Residency Program Director at Mayo Clinic - Rochester to learn tips and tricks for quickly evaluating literature.

SPEAKERS

Garrett SchrammDr. Garrett Schramm is the Director of Pharmacy Education & Academic Affairs at Mayo Clinic. He received a Pharm.D. degree from South Dakota State University, with subsequent completion of PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Garrett’s current role includes administrative oversight of an employee training program for nearly 1,300 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, 15 PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs, and continuing education offerings. 

Scott NeiScott Nei is a cardiovascular critical care pharmacist and the PGY1 program director at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. He enjoys being involved with the Minnesota Affiliate of ASHP and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.  His research interest include hemodynamic support, anticoagulation post-cardiac surgery, anticoagulation in mechanical circulatory devices and PK/PD in critical care.

Danielle HessDanielle Hess is a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University. Danielle is a current member of the New Practitioners Forum's Clinical Practice Advisory Group.
