In this Pharmacy Leadership Episode, Cindy Jeter, Chair of the ASHP Pharmacy Technician Forum Executive Committee sits down with the Pharmacy Technician Forum’s Awardee Mary Mercer to discuss what membership within the Forum and ASHP means to her and how it has helped her develop as a pharmacy practice leader.

Mary Mercer (Tucker), CPhT, AS is a Senior Consultant in the Medication Management Solutions division at Becton Dickinson (BD), a global leader in medical technology and innovation. As part of a specialized national team, Mary leads healthcare organizations through implementation strategies for pharmacy automation solutions and inventory management. Cultivating collaborative relationships, she consults on integration across multiple platforms including IT networking, equipment, and software configurations. Engagements also include education for frontline staff, system administrators, pharmacy leadership, and internal resources. Mrs. Mercer provides insight into defining best practices, executing key design decisions, and optimizing critical workflows which impact medication distribution and patient safety. Strengthening industry professionals and colleagues alike, she also leads mentorship and documentation initiatives and works with development teams to enhance product performance. She earned her AS in Healthcare Administration from New England College in 2021 and is currently working toward her BS in Healthcare Administration with a Concentration in Informatics.
Cindy Jeter, CPhT, CPP, BGS has over 20 years’ experience as a CPhT filling multiple roles in health system pharmacy. She began as a Staff Technician, then became a Sterile Compounding Technician, Narcotic Tech, OR Satellite Tech, Automated Dispensing Cabinets Administrator, Patient Assistance Representative, and Purchasing Coordinator. Cindy has worked as a Regional Purchasing Manager, Trainer and Supply Chain Consultant. Cindy developed McKesson Buyer's University™, which is a training program to assist pharmacy purchasing agents to increase their skills. Cindy currently serves on the ASHP Pharmacy Technician Forum Executive Committee.
