In this Pharmacy Leadership episode, Sarah Stephens sits down with the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners 2023 Distinguished Service Awardee, Lois Parker, to discuss what membership within the section and ASHP means to her and how it helped her develop as a pharmacy practice leader during her career.

Lois F. Parker, BS, RPh, FASHP, (she/her/hers) retired in 2023 after more than 40 years as a clinical pharmacist, first at Massachusetts General Hospital, then at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. Lois has been a member of ASHP for over forty years. She has been active in the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners serving in multiple leadership roles. She was recognized as a fellow of ASHP in 2015 and is this year’s Distinguished Service Award recipient for the section. Upon retirement, Lois became the first volunteer pharmacist at a free clinic, where she is developing this role and assisting providers in procuring needed medications for an underserved population.
Sarah Stephens, PharmD, CPPS, (she/her/hers) is the system medication safety officer for HonorHealth in Scottsdale, AZ. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Wyoming and completed two years of residency training at University of Utah Health specializing in Drug Information. Previous practice includes drug information, acute care adult internal medicine, and academia. Dr. Stephens has held multiple leadership positions within the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners, currently serving as the Immediate Past Chair.
